PewDiePie, the recognized YouTube creator has decided to team up with D Live, a blockchain-based video streaming service. He mentioned that in this platform he feels like a real partner. Theis network has many advantages compared to other centralized video streaming systems. The information was released by Forbes a few days ago.

PewDiePie Starts Streaming on D Live

The recognized YouTuber, PewDiePie has recently signed a new deal with the D Live platform that aims at providing a “YouTube on the blockchain.” This decentralized network that has been built for streaming videos works with a digital currency called Lino and it does not take a percentage of the earnings of the creators.

The D Live platform raised $20 million back in 2018 in a private token sale. There have been several accusations made about PewDiePie being one of the largest platforms of white supremacist content. Thus, he had a complicated relationship with the platform due to the accusations he received.

With this new platform, it might be possible for PewDiePie to bring awareness about Bitcoin (BTC) and blockchain technology as a whole. Most of the fans of PewDiePie are between 18 and 24 years old. In general, Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies had more penetration in younger generations that are in permanent contact with the technology.

Mati Greenspan, a senior analyst at eToro, wrote in a recent note to clients:

“Personally, I’ve never heard of D Live before, but taking a look after this publicity stunt, it seems pretty cool. Though I personally don’t have much taste for this content, it seems that a lot of young people do. When we talk about mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies, this sort of splash can go a very long way.”

He started his YouTube channel back in 2010 with videos in which he showed how he played different games. However, he moved to another kind of content later. Nonetheless, he had a large number of subscribers. 93 million users follow him and he registered 21 billion video views as of April 2019.

Because of the controversies in which he was involved, his earning potential could be at risk. YouTube could eventually suspend him if it finds that he broke the strict rules of the site. Many other content creators in the popular platform have already been suspended. Thus, with D Live, PewDiePie has a new opportunity to reach the audience it has always targetted and potentially bring blockchain technology to the masses.
